Narita City, where the gateway to Japan Narita International Airport is located ,also has the famous Naritasan Shinshoji Temple and its pilgrimage route(Naritasan Omotesando Street)where numerous events are held every year.

JR Narita Station is just two stops away from JR Narita Airport Station.

In just 15 minutes, you can enjoy a traditional Japanese townscape and Japanese cuisine, making it a highly recommended spot.

[July 2025] Narita Gion Festival – Over 300 Years of Tradition

The Narita Gion Festival is one of Narita’s most iconic summer events, attracting over 400,000 visitors each year.

The highlight of the festival is the parade of elaborately decorated floats and festival stalls. Watching the massive floats being skillfully maneuvered through the narrow streets lined with traditional tiled roofhouses is truly a breathtaking sight.

At night, the floats and stalls are beautifully illuminated, offering a completely different, enchanting atmosphere from the daytime festivities.

[July 2025] A Burst of Summer Blooms at Habu Shrine – Morning Glory & Ground Cherry Market

Located just a short walk from Naritasan Omotesando street, Habu Shrine—affectionately known by locals as “Sannomiya-sama”—hosts a charming summer market for two days in July.
During the festival, the shrine grounds are filled with vibrant morning glories and ground cherries (hoozuki) for sale.
These seasonal flowers are sold in beautifully arranged baskets, making them perfect for carrying as you stroll along the historic streets of Narita. It’s a delightful way to enjoy the colors and spirit of a Japanese summer.

In Narita, eel has long been a popular dish to welcome and treat visitors making pilgrimages to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. Even today, the streets around the temple are lined with many eel restaurants, and just walking along the path, the savory aroma of grilled eel is enough to make your mouth water.

In Japan, it is a tradition to eat eel to help endure the hot summer months.
Enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine around the Naritasan Omotesando street area, where the charm of traditional townscapes still remains.

Throughout Naritasan Omotesando Street, the sounds of string instruments will echo, creating a festive and elegant atmosphere.
Strolling along the street while enjoying live performances is highly recommended.
On Sunday, the event will feature even more excitement, including the colorful “Narita no Odori” parade and other attractions.

As November arrives, the expansive Naritasan Park becomes wrapped in the colors of autumn.
During the festival period, visitors can enjoy traditional Japanese cultural events such as shakuhachi (bamboo flute) and erhu (Chinese two-stringed instrument) performances, as well as tea ceremonies.
Take a leisurely stroll through the park and immerse yourself in the quintessential beauty of a Japanese autumn.
